ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

It is mandatory for students to take up the IELTS or TOEFL exams. An IELTS band of 6.0/6.5 for Undergraduate &6.5/7 for Postgraduate courses or a TOEFL score of 80 and above for Undergraduate and 90 and above for Post Graduate courses is necessary.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships in Canada are limited. They barely cover the full cost of a study program and are not always easy to
obtain. The amount awarded varies from an institution and covers only part of a student’s education and living expenses. Applications for the same must be made directly to each university along with the application for admission.

LIVING IN CANDA

Housing

There are three accommodation options for students in Canada:

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

  • International students graduating from a program of 2 years or more, are eligible for a 3 year work permit
  • after graduation with no restrictions on the types of employment and no requirement for a job offer.
  • Students who study a one year program are eligible for a one year Work Permit.
    International students are permitted to work for up to 20 hours per week off-campus during their course,
  • and 40 hrs per week during vacation. They can earn approximately C$ 10.25 onwards per hour.
  • Students are also permitted to work full – time off-campus during co-op terms, amounting to a salary
  • ranging between C$ 400 to C$ 1,000 per month.

VISAS

With the Student Partnership Program introduced by the Canadian High Commission, New Delhi, it has become a boon for Indian students. A student visa to Canada is usually a simple process. It is strongly recommended to apply for Canada Student visa at least 3 months prior to your course start date.

Documents vary depending upon the category of visa a student is applying for.

  • SPP

  • Generic (NON SPP)

Students are required to pass a medical examination. If the student is found to be in good health and there are no other concerns with the application, the Visa and Student Authorization will be issued.
